Your surfing level?

It is great to have goals to achieve in your surfing no matter what your level is. To know how far you have progressed on your course and what to work on in your future surfing. Knowing you current level can also help you in your inquiry’s with us.

The BSA Award scheme has been used by us for over 20 years. We are one of the few schools that use a structured system like this and we know from our clients’ feedback that it really works for them too.

These are the levels; they are Bronze, Silver and Gold and each of these is divided into three.

Bronze Level

  1. Riding lying down

  2. Riding white water “under control” for longer than 5 seconds.

  3. Dropping down an unbroken wave and carrying on the ride under control.

Silver Level

  1. Riding across an unbroken wave.

  2. Riding across the unbroken wave an making basic turns.

  3. Executing manoeuvres on the wave, for example, cutbacks, off the lips, nose rides etc.

Gold Level

Gold 1, 2 & 3 awards are high level awards that are also linked to Beach Lifeguard Awards. The level of surfing is advanced and at the level of club competition in longboard or short board.

This system really works whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer. See where you fit in at the moment, and set your goals.

‘But be warned Surfing is addictive. As we smugly headed off with our Bronze Level  2 (Surf School Lanzarote) certificates tucked under our arms, we were already planning our next trip'

What people say about us

Hi Tim,

I hope all is well in with you in sunny Lanzarote and you're all set for the Easter break.

Just a quick note to say thanks so much for a helping to make my stay such a good one.

I had a really good time as always and I'm really happy with the progress I made while I was there ... baby steps, but I'm just chuffed to bits with my silver 1!

Please pass on my thanks and best wishes to Gillian & George.

Take care,
Anne

Dear Tim,

Just a quick note to say thank you for a fantastic week with you and your team at Famara.  It was quite simply the best instruction that I have had to date and I only wish I had had this professional tuition some 20 years ago.  Although part of a fun group of fellow surfers, I felt that I was being given individual attention at each stage of my learning and development.  I came to Surf School Lanzarote to learn and I have done that in buckets.  I have a very clear idea of what I need to go away and work on in all elements of my surfing and only hope that my 1 year old daughter affords me the time to put into practice all of that learning.

Please pass my best regards to Gillian and George and I hope she has forgiven me for the barrel ride at Famara! I suspect from what you said that I might be the only substantive Major (and student) to ride the barrel at Famara and long may the record stand.

I have recommended you to all my serving and ex serving mates who I usually surf with so you may get some calls or enquiries.

Thanks again for a great week

Kind regards

Sam
